Why Passive Income Is Better Than Commissions for Digital Artists

Digital artists usually start by taking commissions. This is very common. Commissions feel like the easiest way to earn money at the beginning. You do work and you get paid.

Easy commissions paid less. Big commissions took too much effort. I realized that neither option felt good anymore. Thats why passive income is better than commissions for my opinion.

Why Commissions Stop Making Sense

Commissions are active income. You must work for every payment. When you stop working, money stops coming.

Over time, I noticed something important. Even on days when I did nothing, I was already earning money from passive income. My assets were selling by themselves.

At that point, commissions started to feel not worth it. I was spending hours on custom work while my passive income was growing without daily effort.

Choosing Passive Income Instead

Instead of taking commissions, I decided to use my time differently. I focused on creating more assets and created more packs. I created bundles and updated old content.

This decision changed everything. Passive income kept growing. Income became more stable. I had more freedom and less stress.

I was earning more money by creating content than by working on commissions. And I could do it on my own time.

When Commissions Still Make Sense

Commissions are not bad. They are very useful at the beginning. If you are new to the digital art world and you are not earning enough, commissions are a good choice.

They help you earn money early, gain experience. They help you understand what people want.

However, commissions should not be the final goal. They are a starting point, not a long term solution.

Passive income grows over time. Commissions trade time for money.

For me, passive income became the better choice than commissions. It gave me freedom, stability. It earned more money in the long term.

My Honest Opinion

If you are just starting, accept commissions. If you already earn enough, focus on passive income. Choosing the right path at the right time makes a big difference.
